Large industrial center in Poland with the beautiful old town and the magnificent Old Market Square (Stary Rynek).

The Town Hall building was built in the Renaissance style in 1550-1560. Due to a fire and a hurricane, it was destroyed and modified several times, elements of other architectural styles were added.

There are four fountains on the square, just like in Lviv.

The main decoration of the square are colorful trading houses of the 15th century. They are narrow because of the land price and the tax on windows.

In addition to the houses of merchants, there are nobility houses, which already have three or four windows.

There is also a castle in the old town, the oldest royal residence in Poland. It was built in 1959, according to the drawings of the 15th century. The tower can be visited for a small fee.

In the courtyard behind the basilica, you can find a Jesuit College.

Here we found designer wooden benches, which were built on the site of the former parking lot. I just doubt that this public space was designed properly and therefore, there is nobody here.

On Freedom Square, on the border of the old city, there is a futuristic fountain (Fontanna Wolności), popular with children and young people.

In 1968, an interesting infrastructure project was completed in Poznan to change the riverbed of the Warta River. On the map of 1924 it can be seen that the water was close to the old city.

The result of the changes is clearly visible in the satellite image of 2020. Now there is a park and a parking lot on the site of the old riverbed, where we left the car. Here we also spent the night in the City Solei Boutique hotel (booking.com), which we recommend due of its convenient location and designer rooms.
