Kaminne Selo (Stone Village) is one of the less known but interesting places in Ukraine. On several hectares of forest boulders of enormous proportions are scattered. You can find similar stones in many parts of the country, but only here they are so large and are located in the dense forest.
Until now, the scientists haven't been able to determine the origin of the stones. There are two options: either the stones were brought from Scandinavia by the glacier or they are local remnants of ancient mountains that were exposed by the glacier.
The stones are located in specific places, which can mean that our ancestors moved them from place to place. How it was done is not known yet, as the stones are extremely large and heavy.
There's no infrastructure around the Stone Village, so take water and food with you. Mobile communication is also not working.
Getting there: The Stone Village is located 2 km from the Rudnya-Zamyslovetska village, 27 km from Olevsk and 260 km from Kyiv. Olevsk is located 5 km from the Warsaw highway (Kyiv - Kovel). But the road from Olevsk to the Stone Village is in bad condition. We walked the last 2 km from Rudnya-Zamyslovetska. Cross the wooden bridge in the village and move to the right. Look out for blue pointers that lead to the Stone Village. It's better not to try to reach the stones by car, as the forest road is too bad.
