Mount Boron Park (Parc du Mont Boron)

Large forest park on the mountain near Nice. We were interested first of all in the viewpoints, which offer great views of the coast. But here you can come and just for a walk or a picnic.

The first viewpoint is located here N 43 41.792 E 7 17.853. It overlooks Nice and the mountains in the distance.


The second one is near the fort N 43 42.063 E 7 18.027. It offers the best view of Cape Ferrat.


The fort was built in the 16th century. And in the southern part of the park there are remnants of the XIX century fortress. There is also a viewpoint N 43 41.256 E 7 18.208. Both defense structures were erected to protect Nice.

From above it can be seen that the whole mountain is covered with forest, but it was not always like that. In the Middle Ages, trees were cut down for the construction of fortresses and the mountain became a pasture. In 1862 the trees were planted again.

Getting there: take bus 14 from Nice to the Chemin du Fort stop (timetable and map). In Nice you can catch the bus in different places, for example here N 43 42.028 E 7 16.708. The main parking on the mountain is N 43 41.752 E 7 17.956. From there you can walk to the lookouts, although you can park near them as well.
