Nice is widely regarded as one of the most fashionable beach resorts and as the city with the most expensive villas in the world. It's funny, but in Nice there are neither villas, nor the good beaches.

The city became a resort at the beginning of the 19th century, thanks to warm winters and a good climate.

It is a city to stroll along the sea, sit in a restaurant and visit boutiques. Nice is well known for its Promenade des Anglais, which also became infamous after a terrorist attack in 2016.

The beggars in Nice have become so insolent that they don't even ask for money personally.

A large beach is visible, we bathed there, but it looked like torture and we can't recommend. It is covered with large pebbles, which are impossible to walk on without shoes, it is difficult to enter the water, there are no changing cabins and toilets. Which means - Nice is not a beach resort.

Under the hill is the old town, which, however, looks more like Italy than France. This is not surprising since Nice previously belonged to the Italian Duchy of Savoy.

Usually, there are hotels, apartments and restaurants along the sea in most of resorts, but here they are only on the second line. The first line is occupied by strange old houses.

There is a large and beautiful park, The Promenade du Paillon, on the site of the dried-up bed of the Payon River. The same can be seen in many cities, for example in Valencia. The river is not completely dry, it is hidden under the ground, but there is almost no water there.

Getting there: we parked in a large paid parking lot N 43 41.602 E 7 16.986. The easiest way to get to Nice is by train (Gare de Nice Ville). There is also a large airport, from which tram number 2 will take you to the city center.
