Medieval village on the Cote d'Azur. Located on the mountain, on the streets you will find mostly shops, cafes and galleries.

The leftmost building in the next photo (partly visible) is the former private residence of the Swedish Prince Guillaume (Château Eza), acquired in 1920. Until 1950 the royal family often came here. Now it is a luxury hotel.

At the very top, on the territory of the castle ruins (Ancien Chateau), there is an excellent observation deck with picturesque views of the riviera. Entrance is paid, since it is located in the botanical garden.

The village is known for the fact that Friedrich Nietzsche lived here for 18 years. It is possible to reach the sea from a height of 400 meters along the so-called Nietzsche trail (map). Along the path there are information stands with his quotes. It is believed that he often walked along the path to the sea, although it is hard to believe. If you travel by public transport, then you can go down on foot and take the bus or train to Monaco or Nice.

Getting there: paid parking N 43 43.777 E 7 21.676. By bus 82 (timetable and map) or 112 (timetable and map) from Nice Vauban to the Eze Village. You can also come by train to the lower station Gare de Eze Sur Mer and transfer to the bus which takes you to the village.
