On June 6, 1944 in Normandy happened one of the most famous events of the Second World War. Amphibious operation "D-Day" or "Normandy landings" took place on several beaches in northern France, but the main events took place on Omaha Beach.

These events were shown in the famous film by Steven Spielberg "Saving Private Ryan". Remember the first shots?

They were filmed at the American Cemetery, the largest burial of US military outside the United States. Here are 9387 soldiers and officers.
