We came with a baby stroller, but it is useless in many parts of the island. As of May 2023, the island was completely abandoned, although a small restaurant should be open in the summer.
Pier
A monument to the Greeks and Russians who fought here at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries.
If you go right from the pier, you will follow a beautiful forest path to the historical mausoleum dedicated to Serbian soldiers. In World War I, Serbia fought on the side of the Triple Entente, but lost to the Austrians and Bulgarians and army retreated from Serbian territory to Albania. The remnants of the troops, 130,000 of them, were settled on this island and about 30,000 soldiers died of overcrowding and disease.
To the left of the pier you will pass through the territory of an abandoned children's camp. And you can reach several absolutely empty beaches, what we did. Once there were some buildings and infrastructures, but now everything is destroyed and abandoned.
Though the water is very clean.
We encountered pheasants and rabbits on the island, saw them in few places.
