Monrepo Park i Palace were built between 1828 and 1831 as a country villa for the British Commissioner of the Ionian Republic, a state that existed from 1815 to 1864. The commissioner lived in the palace only for few years, after which it was used to house an art school and the park was opened to the public.
After unification with Greece in 1864, the park and the palace were given to the Greek royal family. They served as a summer residence until 1967, when Greece became a republic and the king fled abroad. There were several courts, but the park remained in Greek possession.

At the moment, the palace houses a historical museum, but the park is almost completely abandoned. There are projects to restore it (

Despite the poor condition, it is possible to walk here. The park is open from 8 to 21.
