Münster is worth a visit to see the City Hall and the Hall of Peace inside it. This is the main and most famous landmark. City Hall is quite common; as the entire city center, it was destroyed during the war and rebuilt in the 1950s with private funds. Inside, there is a tourist information office and the Hall of Peace, where two crucial agreements were signed in 1648.

First, on May 15, peace between Spain and the Netherlands was ratified and Netherlands appeared as a state. And on October 24 here as well as in Osnabrück the Peace of Westphalia was signed. This agreement terminated the Thirty Years' War. The hall is preserved in its original form and is available to the public from 10 am until 4 pm (until 5 pm on weekdays), entrance fee is 2 euros.

The City Hall stands on the Prinzipalmarkt Street, which is also a tourist attraction. In 2006, the street was ranked fourth among the most popular architectural attractions of Germany, according to the poll of the ZDF TV channel. Arcades along the street as well as Dutch style houses create its flavor and uniqueness.

From the Middle Ages the arcades were used for shops, and the street was called Market Street. In 2005, all shops were moved to another location. However, later it was decided that the historic street can lose its color, and small shops and cafes returned.

There's an astronomical clock of the 16th century in the central St. Paul's Cathedral, and it still works.

Another interesting place is the Promenade. This is a 4 km long pedestrian and bicycle park path, which is located around the historic city center. It was built in the place of old city walls.

The city has also Münster Palace, which is now the main building of the University of Westphalia, a botanical garden, a zoo, and a planetarium.
