Huelshoff castle

Beautiful water castle near Münster. From 1417 belonged to the noble family of von Hulshoff, the castle hosts their museum . Currently owned by the municipality of Havixbeck.


In 1797, the poetess Annette von Droste-Hülshoff was born in the castle. She is very famous in Germany and before the introduction of the euro was depicted on a 20 marks bill.


In 2012, the heirs founded the foundation of the poetess. It was created to maintain the castle and museum in proper condition, as well as to conduct various literary events. As of 2018, the fund's capital is 19.3 million euros.

There is a large park around the castle. You can walk there freely. There is also a restaurant.
