Padirac Cave is notable for a huge chasm with a diameter of approximately 33 metres.

The chasm is 103 meters deep, but it is not a karst failure in the usual sense. The cave was already inside the rock when the ceiling collapsed and a hole was formed. The cave was first mentioned in the 3rd century, and in the 15-16th centuries it was even inhabited.
