Observation deck on Mount Aksla (Fjellstua Viewpoint) is considered the main attraction of Ålesund. You can reach the top from the city park.
There you will find a cafe with an observation deck. Unfortunately the cafe is only open from 11 in the morning, although the sometimes it's open a little earlier. If you go up about 9 am, you can watch how big ships come to port.
The most famous view of the Alesund.
City before the fire
We climbed two mountains that are seen in this photo - Sukkertoppen and Storhornet. If you are going to spend more than one day in Ålesund, the plan these trips.
The most beautiful place of Aalesund is Marina with a lighthouse.
In Ålesund, we lived in a hotel Scandic Ålesund (booking.com) in a room with a sea view.
We were incredibly lucky with the weather. All three days while we were in Alesund the temperature rose to 25 degrees. At the same time there was virtually no wind, so we managed to make excellent photos that show why the city is considered the most beautiful in the country.
While photographing the harbor we found a nice and friendly cat.
It was so hot that some hotels have placed pontoons for swimming!
We have to admit that weather in Alesund is not so nice always. We were there on 22-24 August and here is the weather for the next days.
150-year-old lighthouse, which is visible on many of the photos is also a room of Brosundet Hotel (http://www.brosundet.no/en/the-hotel/molja-lighthouse). On the next photo you can see "hotel" visitors.
There are a lot of electric vehicles in Ålesund and everywhere in Norway, as their owners receive some preferences from the state.
Prices are very high, Fish & Chips in the fast food costs from 13 euros and in the restaurant from 25 euros.
In the evening, you should definitely come to the pier to see the sunset.
We did not visit, but it may be interesting to you - three kilometers to the west of Ålesund is the Atlantic Park, one of the largest aquariums in Scandinavia.
Getting there: Ålesund has its own airport where fly KLM, WizzAir, SAS, airBaltic and Norwegian. From the airport to the city the only "cheap" option is the bus FlyBuss Vigra (schedule). Return ticket costs 120 kroner ($15). The nearest railway station is Åndalsnes, then by bus to Ålesund.
