It was built in the 1960s by an American surgeon of Greek origin Harry Fournier. The walls of the castle are painted with murals and frescoes from medieval stories about Tristan and Isolde, Ivanhoe, King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. In the courtyard there are three huge sculptures: the goddess Athena, Poseidon and a giant sitting horse. According to rumors there is a library inside the horse.
At the moment, the castle is abandoned and its status is not clear, but it is still in a good condition. The territory is not guarded.
Nearby, in a beautiful place, there is the Agrili restaurant, where we had lunch N 37 12.677 E 21 35.650.
Getting there: ideally by car, you can drive directly to the castle N 37 12.484 E 21 35.437. Getting on buses is not easy. You need to go to Kalamata, for example from Athens (schedule). Next transfer to the bus to Filiatra (schedule), and then take a taxi. But given that there are only a couple of buses a day, the only normal option is your own car.
