A rather unusual place in Corfu. It was once a beautiful old village that was destroyed by an earthquake in 1953. In the 1970s, the Boua family rebuilt the village with the aim of organizing a theme park. No one in Corfu or Greece had ever done this before and it was a unique experience. The locals also call this place Bouas Village.
Everything you see in the village, items, building materials, doors and windows are local. They were found and bought all over the island. The village was opened in 1978. In 2000, it was taken over by the Grecotel hotel chain, used for private events and became closed to the public. However, as of 2022, it can be visited again.
In 1980, the movie "For Your Eyes Only" was filmed in the village. "The Big Greek Wedding 3" and the TV series "The Durrells" were also filmed here.
The entrance to the village is paid, for 2024 it is 10 EUR. However, this amount can be used as payment in the cafe, which we did.
