Mount Pantokrator (917 meters) is the highest mountain in Corfu. There is a monastery on the summit founded in the first half of the 14th century. However, the existing buildings date back to the 17th century. The monastery is a unique architectural and artistic monument, an important part of the ecclesiastical and cultural history and heritage of the island.
From the top of the mountain there are picturesque views of both the island of Corfu itself and the coast of Albania. There is a small cafe, tables for resting and lots of cats.
There are a few small villages on the way to the monastery where you can sit in tavernas. We stopped at
Oasis Taverna Strinilas.
