The palace was built in rococo style in 1752-1757 as the summer residence of Princess Anna Wilhelmina of Anhalt-Dessau. Included in the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of the Park Kingdom of Dessau-Wörlitz[edit].
From 1780 to 1945 the palace was a monastery. Since 1951 a Rococo museum has been functioning inside.
