Querfurt is a large medieval castle, since the 15th century it is surrounded by fortress walls and has repeatedly participated in the battles of the Thirty Years War.

In 1652-1657, Querfurt and the castle went to Augustus Sachsen-Weißenfels, and the castle became a princely residence with a fairly high status.

In 1815, Querfurt became part of Prussia and until 1936 it housed a center for agricultural production. After the Second World War, a museum was opened in the castle.
