The rose garden in Sangerhausen is considered to be the largest collection of roses in the world. It was founded in 1903 as the ‘City Rose Garden’ and has grown to a large scale over time. It contains more than 8,700 varieties of roses from all over the world, from old varieties from the 19th century to modern cultivated varieties. The collection includes roses that have long since disappeared from ordinary gardens and are preserved only here.
