On a hill above the town of Schwangau there is a beautiful park, which offers fabulous views of the valley, the mountains, and Neuschwanstein Castle.

The entire area of the park was once used as a collective pasture for cattle. To give as many farmers as possible the right to graze here, the hilltop was divided into about 100 small plots since 1824. Even before World War I, the community had gradually purchased small parcels of land from private farmers.

In 1936 the municipal council under the mayor of Schwangau decided to build a spa park here. The remaining plots of land were purchased by the municipality. Some farmers even donated their land to the municipality.
