Since we've been to the castle before, we decided to take a walk through the village, below it. Here you can find several interesting buildings.
Schloss Bräustüberl, now a restaurant.
Hunter's House (Jägerhaus), built in 1786 as a court house. Now a hotel with restored original rooms.
The chapel on the hill (Christkönigskapelle). Originally, in 1845, was a greenhouse for exotic plants.
Note the local rooftops.
There are even special warning about boulders on the roofs.
Ticket Office.
At the end of the street you can visit the Museum of the Bavarian Kings.
And stroll on the shore of the Lake Alpsee.
On the mountain above the village can be seen the saddest castle in the world, Hohenschwangau, built by the Knights of Schwangau in the twelfth century. If it were situated anywhere else, it could be a leading attraction. But it is just a stone's throw away from the most visited castle in the world.
At sunset we also walked along Schwangauer Str. (47.568090, 10.737643). It goes in the middle of the fields and offers good views of Neuschwanstein.
Getting there: Parking 47.554367, 10.736141. The nearest train station is in Füssen, then by bus.
