During World War II, the park was used as an anti-aircraft site, was heavily bombed and almost all the buildings were destroyed, including the town hall. During the harsh post-war winters, trees were cut down to get wood for heating. Some buildings did survive, but the destroyed ones were not rebuilt and a temporary shelter was organized on the territory. Only since 1995 has the park started to be cared for, and parts are regularly restored.
There is a nice playground in the park, and in summer a shallow, children's water pond. Though even adults will have a lot of fun on these huge swings.
