Stadthagen is a small town near Hannover. It belongs to the towns of Weser Renaissance, mainly because of an ancient castle. In 1945 the city was taken without a fight and therefore a lot of half-timbered buildings were saved.
The main interest is a castle built in the years 1535-1539 by Count Adolf XI. The first castle on this site was built in 1224 by Count Adolf III. Castle was designed as a residence and not as a military object, that's why it looks pretty friendly. In 1539 the Schaumburg county authorities moved into the castle. In 1608 count's family moved to the Bückeburg, but it is curious that the tax inspection works in the castle until now! Because of this, unfortunately, castle cannot be visited. It's possible only if you need to visit the tax office :)
Near the castle there is a small and very old building (1553).
Inside is located a regional museum. We did not plan to visit it, but passed nearby and old man in the door invited us to enter. This man is apparently a beekeeper, as on the first floor he placed the relevant exhibits. Since I spent all my childhood near the bees, therefore looked with an interest :)
The second and third floors held regional museum of antiquity.
Curiously, on one of the photographs can be seen that in 1900 Stadthagen had a tram.
Near the castle, across the road, there is a city park with a fountain, a lake and a tea house.
Old Town is compact and has a clear oval shape, you can get around it in half an hour.
An interesting picture in the end. Stadthagen has it's own table tennis :)
