Südmerberg Tower (Sudmerberger Warte, 51.915000, 10.467361)
First we went up to the observation tower. The parking lot is here 51.913778, 10.463222, then a short uphill climb. The tower is closed from about November 1 to March 31.
The construction date of the tower is unknown. Most likely it was part of Goslar's city fortifications, which had been continuously expanded since the 11th century, and in the 15th century were reinforced by another outer ring that extended over the Südmerberg mountain. From here, the Goslar city guards could be alerted in case of danger by light and other signals.
The tower offers a pretty good view of Goslar and the surrounding area.
You can put a stamp in a special little book to mark your visit to the place.
Ramseck viewpoint (51.888528, 10.426417)
The viewpoint is located at the height of 635 meters, but we liked it less than the way up, which looks more scenic.
View of the Rammelsberg mine from the viewpoint.
A particularly scenic section is here 51.888972, 10.424694, we liked it a lot.
The following photos are taken from this spot 51.888056, 10.424389.
You can access this trail from the restaurant Berggaststätte “Maltermeister Turm”. Here https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=18/51.890005/10.426278 you can see the hiking trails. We were not sure if we can park the car by the restaurant, so we left it nearby 51.893556, 10.427611.
