Basilica of Birnau (Zisterzienser-Priorat Kloster Birnau)

A very beautiful church, situated in a very beautiful location, on the high shores, above the Bodensee lake. The church is known as the Basilica of Birnau, a status granted to it in 1971 by Pope Paul VI. Basilicas are ceremonial churches.






If you go down to the lake, you can see the basilica from the side of the vineyards.




Next to the basilica is Maurach Castle, which houses some kind of training center.
