Walsrode is a small town in Lower Saxony where located one of the two largest bird parks in the world (
second one in Singapore). This is the standard zoo of new generation, with a variety of shows throughout the day and huge indoor enclosures with ecosystems of different parts of the world, where the birds fly freely. The park also features different rare plants, so it is also a botanical garden.
The park is very nice, but due to its location away from the major tourist centers, the number of visitors is not enough for financial success. Park several times changed owners over the past 20 years.
