Königssee lake is one of the most beautiful places in Germany. Despite the fact that it is located in the corner of the country, on the border with Austria, you should definitely go there. The lake is surrounded by mountains that are up to 2700 meters high. The most famous view of the lake opens from the Corner of Artists (Malerwinkel). Here you can walk along the shore from Schönau am Königssee.
You can take a boat ride across the lake. Here you can find the schedule and prices. Only electromotive and rowing transport is allowed on Königssee, so the lake is considered to be the cleanest in Germany.
Location of the rocks creates a good echo. To show that, the captain stops the boat and plays the trumpet.
In the middle of the lake, on the west bank near the water stands the St. Bartholomew's Church.
From the end station of the boat, Salet, take a walk to the Obersee lake. It is smaller, but very picturesque. On the other side of the lake is the largest waterfall in Germany, Röthbach. If you have time, you can walk around the lake, but don't miss the last boat.
Around the lake there is a cable car to the Jenner mountain, prices and location can be found on the official site. Another interesting place nearby is Eagle's Nest, Hitler's house.
