Punta Moreno (Isabela Island)

Our rating: 7.60
2014-04-18

Punta Moreno means "the place for sunbathing". Look at the pictures and you'll understand why. There are no trees and only lava around. Eco-trail with a length of 2,100 meters passes through the lava. This place is visited in the morning or in the evening since it can be hot.

There are almost no animals here, the main interest is unusual territory and landscapes. The ecotrail offers panoramic views of the lava lagoons and three volcanoes: Cerro Azul and Sierra Negra on the Isabella island and La Cumbre on the Fernandina island. The population of wild dogs that existed on this site fed on marine iguanas, sea lions and other marine species and drank the abundant brackish water present here. These dogs were eliminated in 1980.

Who lives here:
 - flamingos, not seen
 - ducks, not seen
 - waders, not seen
 - seals, saw two
