Larnaca is the main resort town of Cyprus. Curiously, it has not the best beach. The water is clean and the sand is good, but it's too shallow. If you want to swim you need to walk 150 meters in the water, not everyone will like it. But it's a paradise for children.
The main promenade of the town is the Finikudes Blvd, it is also the most famous street of the country. And the most beautiful, until the promenade of Limassol is finished. It is nice to walk here at any time of the day. Restaurants of various price ranges are waiting for visitors. We stayed in one of the inexpensive hotels (booking.com) that are located along the boulevard with a great view of the waterfront.
On the way from the airport look out for salt lake. In winter many species of birds, especially flamingos, come here. In the summer the lake is dry. There's an eco trail around the lake.
Larnaca has not many interesting attractions, most tourists are walking only along the Finikudes Boulevard, as there's no old town in Larnaca. We walked in the districts around the Saint Lazarus Church (map), which is the oldest in Cyprus (IX cent.) It is also the main historic attraction of the island. We also visited the Saturday market nearby.
We swam at the free beach, which is near the fortress, at the end of the Finikudes boulevard.
