Synevyr is the largest lake in the Ukrainian Carpathians that is located at an altitude of 1 km. It is one of the most known landmarks of Ukraine, along with Hoverla. Like on most of similar tourist sites in the world, there is a hiking trail by which you can walk around the lake. Each point will open new and interesting sceneries. We were lucky to visit the lake at sunset.
On the peninsula in the middle of the lake there is a wooden sculpture "Syn and Vyr." It seems small from a distance, but in fact the height is 13 meters. Swimming in the lake is prohibited, the water temperature is 11 degrees.
From the entrance to the park there is a 2 km road to the lake. Most people walk on foot, and some pass by car. If you come in an organized group on the bus, then you will go on foot.
Getting there: By train to the Volovets station, then by minibus to Mizhgirja and finally by bus to the lake. You can take a taxi to Synevyr in Volovets ($32).
