Khortytsia is the largest island on the Dnipro river. The island has the status of the State Historical and Cultural Reserve. In the 16-18 centuries the legendary Zaporizhian Sich was located here. The symbols of Ukraine, cossacks , used to live here. In 2007 the island won the title of one of the "Seven Wonders of Ukraine ."Zaporizhzhya downtown to Khortytsia. The island is very large, so prepare for a long walk.

The island has a rich fauna: more than 30 species of animals, 120 species of birds, 10 species of reptiles, 5 species of amphibians. I only saw lizards, mice, and a couple of interesting birds, one of which, unfortunately, had a broken wing :(
