Monorail on the artificial island Palm Jumeirah is the first transport of such kind in the Middle East. The only purpose for which it was built - because it's cool! We didn't see any need for it as a public transport. So it is not surprising that the train is usually empty. But it's better for tourists, as you can easily occupy seats in the first row (the monorail is automatic).
At the moment there are two stations - Palm Gateway and Atlantis Aquaventure. One-way ticket fee is 15 dirham ($4), return ticket - 25 dirham ($7). There is a large car parking near the Palm Gateway station where you can find taxis. Train schedule is here.
Getting there: Either on foot or by taxi from the Nakheel or Dubai Internet City metro station. At the moment there is an idea to prolong the monorail to the Dubai Internet City station, so check this info when you read the article. Some hotels offer shuttles to the first station. Check out the hotel list and schedule here.
