The origin of this place is unknown. It is assumed that it was built by hermit monks around 1,100 years ago. And it was found about 50 years ago by a local. The central 15-meter statue of Buddha is the tallest on the island. The place in general is very picturesque and little known among tourists.

Getting there: The temple is located 3 km from the Ella - Tissamaharama highway, near the Buduruwagala village.
