Pancha Island (Illa Pancha)

We came to Pancha Island by chance. Actually, if you are a tourist, you can easily come to the lookout, take a walk in the area and look at the island. The view will be like this.


During our travels we usually do not book hotels more than 2 days in advance. So on a trip to northern Spain, during a stay in A Coruña, we decided to look for a place for the next night. And remembered that we saw an unusual hotel in the popular ukrainian travel show "Heads and Tails". Opened the booking.com and immediately found Faro Isla Pancha AT (booking.com).




It turns out that there are two apartments in the old lighthouse on the island. The design was done by PF1 Interiorismo, there are a lot of different interesting things, like automatic toilets and doors with buttons. Moreover, the price is very affordable, as for such an interesting place. So if you are in Galicia, do not miss it. You can even drive to the entrance in a small car.


The house in which we spent the night is an old lighthouse, built in 1857. In 1983 a new modern lighthouse appeared nearby.


And we climbed into the old one to take pictures.


This project to turn a lighthouse into a hotel was the first in Spain. The authorities are considering other options, perhaps when you read these lines, a dozen of such mini-hotels already opened. This is quite logical, since such objects are usually abandoned.


Our lighthouse neighbors went to a restaurant for a dinner, and we prepared food in the kitchen to have a dinner at sunset.

In general, the place was the most interesting during the entire trip to northern Spain.




Getting there: parking N 43 33.296 W 7 02.555. The nearest bus stop, Estación de Autobuses de Ribadeo (alsa.es), is located in 2 km from the island.
