Before the capture by the Spaniards in 1512, Navarra was a separate kingdom.
After the capture, the castle was abandoned and in 1813 was burned by partisans during the war with Napoleon.
Originally built without a plan, this can be seen even now, like it is created by a child from Lego.
In the 20th century, the administration of Navarra province decided to completely reconstruct the castle and this was done starting from 1937.
In addition to the unusual architecture, the castle is notable for its green courtyards.
And for a large number of towers, which can be climbed. Each offer different view of the castle and the town of Olite.
Outside, the castle seems small, but when you start wandering inside, you are surprised by it's size.
