The green color of the water is due to the algae Ruppia Maritima. The lake is replenished with water from the ocean, but its evaporation is faster, so the volume of water decreases.
Be careful, this color of water you can see only in the daytime. At sunset, of course, it's beautiful, but the lake is no longer green.
There is a short hiking trail to the lake from the village of El Golfo. If you are hungry, there are many restaurants in the village.
You will look at the lake itself from the observation deck and cannot go down, at least in 2021 the descent was closed. So if you want to get to the beach, you have to go in from the other side. Though, as of 2021, there was no parking there. We were able to leave the car near the road 28.972180, -13.830590.
Next, we walk to the lake along a picturesque path.
You can't go near the lake itself, nor can you swim in it.
Many famous movies were shot near the lake.
