Cable car in Tatranska Lomnica

The main cable car in the Slovak Tatras is located in Tatranská Lomnica, which became the first state resort in the region back in 1892. With a few transfers you can get to the second highest mountain in the Tatras - Lomnický Štít. Its height is 2632 meters, which is only 20 meters lower than the highest mountain in the country (Gerlachovský Štít).


It is better to buy a ticket online and in advance https://www.gopass.travel/EN/homepage. In the middle of the summer season there were tickets only for the day after tomorrow and only online, there were no tickets at the ticket office. The main flow of tourists goes up to the station Skalnaté pleso (1750 m), and a much smaller number to Lomnický Štit. This is due to the fact that there is literally one small car, and therefore you have to buy tickets in advance.


From Skalnaté pleso station start several hiking routes, the most popular of which is to Zelené pleso (Green Lake).


The Skalnaté pleso station has a restaurant, a playground and a picturesque lake.






There is also an observatory here.


There are several restaurants near the lower station of the cable car, we went twice to Humno Tatry restaurant (49.165143, 20.272826). Nice place, with parking, unusual design, playground and children's corner inside.

Getting there: large parking lot 49.167156, 20.271056. Tatranská Lomnica has a railway station and also is a destination of Flixbus.
