Fort Canning Park is located in the heart of Singapore, on the slopes of a 60-meter hill. Here was a fort with a rich history and a park named after it. It was the center of the ancient state that was located on these territories. Subsequently many Malay kings ruled from the hill and the place was almost sacred to Singapore residents at the time of arrival of the British. Many artifacts from the history of Singapore are preserved here, for example, guns. However, they never fired and stand as a decoration :) The fort itself is not preserved, it was demolished in 1926 during the construction of a strategic water tank on the top of the hill. Only the huge gates left.Here you can view information about the park and download PDF files with a map and description. There are files of three types: colonial history, ancient history and vegetation of the park, choose what you like more. We were more interested in colonial history.
