Stavanger is a large city in Norway. City is rich, since 1969, when oil is found in the North Sea, it is the oil capital of the country. There is even a museum of the oil industry in Stavanger.

In summer Stavanger is full of tourists. Every day in the port stops at least one large cruise ship and thousands of people visit the city-center (area above the lake) and a small old town (red area on the map).

The center is small, it's easy to get around in 2 hours. In the old town there are few traditional Norwegian streets.

In residential districts many Norwegians also live in wooden houses.

After strolling in the center, we went to see the other parts of Stavanger, where tourists do not go. For example, the city has a lot of graffiti and murals. With the annual festival images are constantly being added. Here is a map of 2015 which we used.

Sport grounds are everywhere in the city.

Even office buildings have small sport grounds.

We stayed at Comfort Hotel Stavanger (booking.com).

Stavanger is usually used to visit places of interest nearby:

Pulpit rock
Lysefjord
Monafossen waterfall
Kjerag - not visited by us yet

Getting there: From the airport to the city runs express bus (~$14.5). To save money take bus 42 (direction Sandnes) to Forus øst stop and transfer at the same bus stop to bus 3, to the center of Stavanger (with the same ticket). This trip will cost ~$6.5. Find here schedule.
