Many hotels are located on the waterfront, which is very convenient. We stayed at City Palace Hotel (booking.com).
Waterfront
Old Town is located on a hill with the fortress of King Samuel at the top.
All attractions are located on this hill, around the fortress. There are beautiful, ancient streets, religious buildings and even an ancient amphitheater.
Castle walls offer good views of the city, lake and mountains. Fortress is completely reconstructed.
Near the church, which is visible on the previous photo, there is a good viewpoint. We came there in the evening.
The unusual lanterns in the old town.
You can walk along the coast, around the old town.
In the summer this place is crowded, but in the autumn restaurants are closed.
Only cats left.
At the edge located the church of St.John Kaneo. Come here to watch the sunset.
If you want to see the most beautiful view of the city, you need to go uphill towards the villages Ramne or Velestovo.
There are many beautiful places around Ohrid, but you need a car. For example the National Park Galicica, which can be reached by a scenic road along the lake.
Getting there: there is an airport, but it works, mainly in the summer. The main transport are buses: from Skopje 3.5 hours ($10). There are also buses from the Albanian Tirana to Struga city, then take a taxi.
