Araishi Lake Town

The restored wooden settlement on Lake Araishi was originally built on this site in the 9th-10th centuries. The location on the island was chosen for better protection. Additionally, wooden walls were built.

Similar settlements were common in lake regions, but they were very short-lived and either burned down or went under water.










Nearby there are later stone ruins.
