Winsen is a town near Hamburg with a small old center. You can stop by to see the 700-year-old castle and the old town. It is located on a lake with a fountain, a picturesque place. For visits is closed, but in the courtyard and and park opened to visitors. Nowadays In the castle is the District Court and the building itself belongs to the state. In the Middle Ages witch trials took place here. One historian found information that only in 4 years between 1611 and 1614 more than 30 "witches" were burnt.

Another interesting building located on the square near the castle. It is the stables of the 16th century. Now here is a small museum and a tourist information office.

Getting there: The town is located between Hamburg and Luneburg, the railway station is Winsen(Luhe).
