We came to Ballenstedt to see the castle and the park around it in the late Baroque style, an example of garden art of the 18th - 19th centuries.

In front of the castle, near the parking lot, you can see a miniature model of another castle - Anhalt. The castle itself has not survived, only its ruins.

The first documentary evidence of the castle dates back to 1036. In 1865, Prince Frederick Albert of Anhalt-Bernburg decided to live there. The castle was completely rebuilt, the new parts were attached to the old abbey which is clearly visible in the photo above. A theater was built in 1788. The castle is now home to a cinema museum, and in 2018, 7 living rooms were restored.

We visited the park in early April, so we haven't seen flowers and fountains yet.
