Split is the second largest and important city in Croatia. Unlike Zagreb, it is located on the coast and therefore more popular with tourists. Central, historic part of town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Overview of this beautiful picture of this can be done with a viewing platform (43°30'28"N 16°25'48"E).

The main attraction of the city is Diocletian's Palace, built in 295-305 years by the Roman emperor Diocletian. The territory of modern Croatia, like most of Europe at that time, was controlled by Rome. Reconstructed palace looks very impressive.

Of course, the palace has not survived, and indeed hard to say which parts are survived. After all, the entire historic center of Split, is a palace. Inside its walls there are houses, museums, restaurants. This is very unusual, it turns out that modern city grow into the palace of third century. Over the centuries appeared a lot of different styles of architecture, that's why the historic center attracts tourists.

There is a beach almost in the city center where we swam. The beach is not very good, with lots of people and very shallow. So, to find a better one you have to go outside the city.
