Syrets Arboretum (dendropark) is unknown not only to a wide range of tourists but even to the locals. The park was created by a dendrologist Nikolai Ptitsyn. You can find his memorial stone in the park. The main works on filling the park with plants and creating landscape compositions were conducted in the 1950s, but the park had existed here for over 135 years. The park is spotless and quiet. It's perfect for a walk with kids.
You can find some animals in the park. Due to low attendance squirrels and birds are not afraid of people and you can watch them from a distance of several meters. Bring some nuts, try to feed them.
In May a lot of flowers and bushes blossom in the arboretum, and you can watch this beauty without crowds of people, which you can see in the botanical gardens of Kyiv.
Getting there: It's not easy to find the arboretum. You need to get to the Syretska metro station. Next, go through the Syrets Forest Park and reach the Kotovskogo (Tiraspolska) Street. Turn left and walk to the entrance to the "Kvity Ukrayiny" (Flowers of Ukraine) agricultural company. Pass through the checkpoint and look for green pointers to the arboretum - "ДЕНДРОПАРК". Opening hours: on weekdays from 10 am to 5 pm, on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 am to 4 pm.
Entrance to the park on Google Street View.
