Eco trail to the Sokolyne Berdo (Falcon's Nest) cliff is located in the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve. It's a path in the woods along a small stream Kuziy. The route is divided into two sections. The first one is simple and the second one involves climbing to Sokolyne Berdo. There's a vertical drop of 300 meters, so think twice before climbing. The final destination at the top is not remarkable. If you get only there, you won't see any scenery. The landscapes can only be seen from the cliff (like on the picture below).
Along the way you'll see a small waterfall and two mines made by geologists. The lower one is 33 meters long, the upper one 400 meters. Both mines have closed bars, the beams inside are completely rotten, so better not enter them. Sometimes they are full of bats.
We walked along the trail with the group, but you can visit it on your own. There's a small entrance fee, buy tickets at the small house near the beginning of the trail. There'll be also information boards.
The trail is marked by several indexes, so you won't get lost. Note that there's no tourist infrastructure on the trail. Full walk will take at least 4 hours, take water and sandwiches. Although you can collect water from the streams. You'll see a small "doghouse" to the right of the path - it's a water source.
A detailed description of the route can be found on the reserve's website. If it is still not translated, use the Ukrainian version and online translation tools.
Getting there: The trail starts near a decorative wooden sign with the words "Кузійський масив" (Kuziy massive) on the side of the Uzhgorod - Rakhiv highway. The map shows the beginning of the trail.
