The neo-Gothic palace was built in 1834-1840 by Elson and Guito for a friend of the Emperor Alexander I, the Minister of Education of Russia, Alexander Golitsyn. In the late 19th century the palace was bought by Countess Panina. This estate was visited by many famous Russian poets and writers, such as Maxim Gorky, Anton Chekhov, Ivan Bunin, Fyodor Shalyapin, and in 1901-1902 Lev Tolstoy rested here.
The palace is currently the front desk of the "Yasnaya Polyana" ("Clear Valley") resort. The resort was named after the famous family estate of Lev Tolstoy near Tula. You can enter the territory and take a walk around the palace for free.
Getting there: By minibus #26 Yalta - Alupka, ask to stop near "Yasnaya Polyana".
