After Yanukovych run to Russia, his former estates were opened to public. Mezhyhiria in 2014 and Sukholuchchya in 2017. It is located at the end of this road.

The word is really complicated, you can try to use "Sukho-luchye", it's in russian language, but a little bit easier to read.

This entire area of 30,000 hectares has been closed to ordinary people for a long time. Since the 1950s, there were hunting grounds of the ruling elite of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine. In 2007, Viktor Yanukovych laid eyes on the estate and carried out a reconstruction.

Why did he need this residence? Judging by what we saw, this was the estate where he came with friends to hunt. The infrastructure was built for a large number of people. Usually at least 20 persons were hunting here.

How to visit Sukholuchchya?

Come by car and park here N 51 00.846 E 30 24.506. You will pass through the village of Sukholuchchya, that was accessible before only by local residents.

Next, go to the gate N 51 00.823 E 30 24.406 and pay for the entrance. In 2018, the ticket cost $2. Opening hours from 9 to 19 on weekdays and from 9 to 20 on weekends.

The residence is served by 40 people and its maintenance requires at least $100.000 per year. Tickets cover only a small part of the expences, the rest of the funding comes from Mezhyhirya.

Therefore, we strongly recommend to come here, buy tickets, take a walk and help financially this beautiful place.

Near the entrance you can see the trenches, which remained from 2014 year.

Then go along the paved path to the main estate. We arrived at 10 am on a weekend and were alone here. Tourists simply do not know about this place or can not reach it.

On the sides of the path are various animals: deer, Przewalski horses, wild boars, pigs. They were bred specifically for hunting. The Yanukovych family hunted only large animals: wild boars, elks and deer. Killed animals were butchered, checked for radiation (!), cooked and ate right on the spot! And all that in the 21st Century

Moreover, not only Yanukovych, but many famous people were here. Some of them still live in Ukraine happily even today. And such "medieval beasts" ruled the country. Though they are still hunting there, journalists discovered that last year. "Maydan Self-defense forces" control only the estate itself, but not the forests.

We knew about animals and took cabbage, apples and carrots. The deer run away, but the horses noticed the food and came to us.

At first we were overjoyed and began to feed them. But the horses were extremely impudent! Be very careful, they pull everything out of the hands, even bags.

Near the lake there is a small cafe in the former fishing pavilion "Fisherman's House".

Inside you can see a few gifts for Yanukovych from various famous personalities. This stuffed bison was presented by the president of Belarus.

These few things are the only remains after the "patriots", who first entered the residence in March 2014. Moreover, there were different groups with machine guns, which are even competed for the "treasures". Why the state did not offer a large reward and amnesty for information about thieves? Since they do not do this, they obviously know who is guilty. Two unique armored minibuses "Mercedes" were stolen first. I cannot believe that police don't know their location.

The treasures were taken out by large vehicles! "Patriots" stole everything, even the tiles, parquet and sockets! Sockets, Carl!

The same could happen in Mezhyhiria, but Self-Defense got there first.

There are places for picnics, they can be rented. You can even stay here with a tent ($8), the grill will be given free of charge.

The main house "Acacia" is something like "Honka" in Mezhyhiria, just smaller. Built on the site of the old hunting lodge of the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine Volodymyr Scherbitsky.
